The Penza Regional Art Gallery of K.A. Savitskiy
This is a collaboration of the National Pastel Society of Russia and the Red Rock Pastel Society of Nevada with the support and guidance of the International Association of Pastel Societies IAPS
Proud to announce the “Art of Pastel” exhibition featured within the historic Penza Art Gallery.
Pastel is a pure pigment, a unique combination of painting and drawing, and a medium for connoisseurs.
This exhibition is a joint project of the National Pastel Society of Russia and the Red Rock Pastel Society of Nevada, with the support of the regional art gallery of Penza, named after Savitsky K.A, one of the oldest museums in Russia with the richest art collection.
We are also grateful to announce the amazing support of our program by the Educational Grant by the International Association of Pastel Societies.
This is a retrospective project, looking back to the history of pastel and its contemporary development in the works of the leading artists of Russia and other countries, such as England, Finland, France, Scotland, and the USA.
The art museum in Penza had its own unique collection of pastel paintings dating back to the 19th and 20th centuries. The base for this collection was laid by the legacy of Ģoriushkin-Sorokopudov, a student of Ilya Repin. It also includes works of Vakhrameev, Makovsky, Falk, and those of our contemporary artist from Penza, Anatoly Afanasiev, who links the artistic generations.
The pastel societies of Russia and Red Rock Pastel Society of Nevada have put together the works of contemporary artists curated by Olga Abramova, leading pastel artist and the President of NPS, and Dasha Jamison, the founder and the president of the RRPSNV.
It is a very special honor to be able to facilitate this with amazing collaborators who set the trend in pastel Evolution.
We will be announcing all the participants from around the globe - stay tuned!
This exhibition is a unique opportunity to see the pastel paintings of different times and genres in the historic halls of the art gallery of Penza. It opens to visitors and virtually this October.
During the dates of the exhibition between October, 1st and November 14th, the following program is suggested: the opening, workshops, demos, and excursions. You can participate in person and online.
