Capturing the essence and movement of flowers, painter Julia Lambright creates a journal of memories and emotions. In this demonstration, Julia shows her strategies in a mixed-media approach with soft pastels. Starting with color stains, her abstracted, yet beautifully chaotic shapes lead to order, inviting the viewer to witness the path for dreamy light.

About the artist:

Julia Lambright was born and raised in Russia. She earned a BFA and an MFA with Distinction in painting from the University of New Mexico. Working in oil in the past, her prime medium of choice is egg tempera, a knowledge she acquired from masters in Russia and the United States. While searching for a personal spiritual experience,

Lambright began exploring iconographic canons, formulas, and techniques of the 17th-century icon painting, addressing her history and childhood experiences.
